AtoZ Challenge 2018 – #Amour #A #LesMotsFrançais #ThemeReveal

Bonjour!

Before you all panic, no, the AtoZ blogging challenge is not gonna be in French. However, it’s merely gonna show my affinity towards French. The next 26 days, Moi, Stri is gonna take you into my world of French as I am gonna blog about my favourite 26 words in French language.

Now, that I did the theme reveal, without much ado, here it goes, the first mot (word) – Amour.

This noun word means Love. Ah, what a lovely way to start my theme. The word takes masculine form. Yes, unlike English, words in French are categorised into masculine or feminine. Interesting fact, while most words remain the same gender in their plural form or has a different form for each gender, the plural form of amour is primarily feminine.

Okay, too much grammar. Moving on, here is a usage of the word.

“Tout est juste dans l’amour et la guerre.”

And the translation as you mind have guessed is “All is fair in love and war.”

Now, here’s the fun twist to my theme reveal. Gonna do what I do the best – narrate a love story. Yes, every day, I will try to narrate or tell a story that connects with the word.

When I was a kid, I was mesmerized by the stories of Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, etc. As I grew up, Jane Austen and Shakespeare fed me all sorts of dreams about l’amour parfait (the perfect love). However, right now, my affinity towards love is all the more real and, probably, matured.

Yes, I have been the pre-teen girl who had confused infatuation for love. I have also been the teenage girl, who expected a knight in shining armour to come in a golden horse (figuratively). However, these days, the love I adore seem to have changed a lot.

The other day, I was waiting at a hospital (nope, before you ask, nothing went wrong, it’s just a routine checkup). I saw two really old couple. The wife was sick, and her husband was taking care of her. They were just the real-life Ganapathy uncle and Bhavani Aunty (O.K.Kanmani). Without a doubt, the chemistry between Dulquar and Nithya made me go aww. However, it was this old couple’s commitment to each other that made me feel safe and secure.

For me l’amour parfait is very simple. It will feel as comforting and peaceful as coming home and stretching your leg on a chair opposite to you after a stressful day at work.

So, what are your thoughts about amour? Let me know in the comments below.

Until tomorrow,

Stri
