Hi, Folks,
The book on the review table today is:
Title: You Raise Me Up
Author: Arjun Hemmady
Genre: Romantic
Price: Rs 325
Purchase Link: Buy From Amazon
Number of pages: 364
Publisher: Frog Books.

Book Blurb: Aalok Sharma, a 27-year-old, chartered accountant, meets the vivacious and beautiful Priyanka Mehra, on a flight from Delhi to Mumbai. They are instantly attracted to each other, though completely opposite in nature. However, something is holding Aalok back. Will this thing throw a spanner in his love story? Or will he be able to overcome his demons?

About the Author: Born on 5th April 1989, Arjun Hemmady completed his schooling from St. Mary’s ICSE (Mazgaon), and college from RA Poddar College of Commerce and Economics. He is pursuing his Chartered Accountancy from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). His pastimes include writing, reading books, and watching movies. He works in a manufacturing company.

Stri’s Take On It: The story about one Aalok Sharma, who meets Priyanka Mehra on a flight and falls madly for her that moment itself. However, he does not want to take this relationship ahead, while she, who happens to fall in love too, is an outward and demanding person. Well there is a wife in the scene, Tanya. Aalok is still in love with her, but her alcoholism had separated them when he met Priyanka. Whom did Aalok pick forms the rest of the story. It’s a simple,  one-time read book with a not-so-new story.

WOWS:

1. The characters are strong and distinct. Each character has a clear characterization and they don’t deviate from that.
2. The writing style is simple. For beginner readers, this can be a easy and fun book to pick and read.
OOPS:
1. The story drags eternally. Editing could have been better to chop out trivial conversations that did not support the story.
2. The story line by itself was predictable, stereotypical, and not that interesting.
My Rating: 2.5/5.
Do I recommend? Romance lovers may be you guys can read it for the interesting dialogues and romantic screenplay.
