Chapter 8 – The Unbreakable Bond – Blog Novel

Read the other chapters here.

“What happened?” asked Kalyani.

“What? Nothing happened” said Lakshmi and looked at Sahana as if asking for her approval. Sahana kept a puppy face and nodded innocently.

“Why is she sneezing? Did you people buy her ice cream?”

“NO” said all of them in unison!

Somehow Lakshmi’s mother seemed to drop the topic finally after she heard her milk cooker whistle loudly.

After a week, Lakshmi was getting ready to college. She was looking angelic in the white full sleeved salwar kameez.

Sahana gasped, “Wow, you are beautiful”.

“Thanks, you are cute too.”

“When I grow up I want to be like you.”

“You will be more beautiful than me by the way how come you aren’t getting ready yet?”

“It’s leave for me.”

“Study leave”

“What? Study leave?”

“What did you achieve to have a study leave?”

“To achieve good grades, I am getting leave.”

That evening when Lakshmi came back home, Sahana was yelling “Lakshmi, his name is Shiva, Shivaraman. He looks nice like Arvindswamy*.”

“What? Who?”

“Attimber* He is so nice.”

Lakshmi panicked and asked in a hushed tone to Sahana, “What are you telling? You are kidding aren’t you?”

“No, some uncle came and gave photos.”

“Tell clearly.”

“I don’t know. Mom has gone to temple with photos and that paper where cubes where drawn.”

“What cubes? You mean the horoscope?”

“Whatever. Leave me. I am going to play, you want to come?”

Lakshmi changed and started to play carom with Sahana without much of concentration. “Did you see the photo?”

“Yeah, he is too much for you.”

“Shut up.”

“Okay, I was joking. He is nice and you are also nice.”

“Are you happy?”

“Yes. New member in our family, it is so nice and he looks good.”

“Stupid, I will go away”

“To his house”

“Oh, trip?”

“Idiot, are you listening.”

Sahana looked up from the carom to her sister’s eyes, “hmmm”

“I will permanently go and stay in their place. Hyderabad. I won’t be here. Do you get it?”

“What, why?”

“That’s how marriages happen.”

“Can’t we ask him to come and stay with us?”

“No, listen. Mom got married and came to our house similarly if I or you get married we will go to the respective guys’ house.”

“Oh, very simple. I got it. Ask them if they have a brother, I will marry and come with you.”

Amidst all the mental chaos Lakshmi was smiling ear to ear seeing Sahana’s innocence.

Please wait till first Tuesday of May Month for the sequel of this.
